The Faculty of Management and Finance came into existence on 29th April 2003 at the main premises of the University of Ruhuna. The Faculty has six Departments of studies; namely, the Department of Accounting and Finance, the Department of Human Resource Management, the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, the Department of Marketing, the Department of Finance and Department of Business Management. In addition to these departments, the faculty also has a Computer Unit. BBA Degree in International Business and BBA Degree in Business Law are the proposed degree programs to be introduced soon.
At present, the faculty conducts courses in a range of disciplines leading to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees. Under the educational reforms at the university, course-unit based undergraduate programmes were introduced with effect from September 2001. With these reforms, the faculty now offers BBA Degree Programmes in English medium only.
Other than the undergraduate programmes, the faculty coordinates Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree programme based on independent research. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Business Management (MBM) programmes are special degree programmes offered by the faculty, which are mainly based on coursework and a research component..

Mission of the Faculty
This faculty is designed to investigate unexplored phenomena in Management and Finance by maintaining a trade-off between modern Management Systems and Sri Lankan regional cultural contents, to transfer such knowledge by means of study programmes, conferences and publications, and to become the centre for regional management studies in Sri Lanka.
